Someone once told me that teaching is how we become immortal. But there’s no whatsapp I can send to these gentlemen to tell them what they did for a little boy of 9, and a young man of 29. 🥹 My phone has been buzzing with wishes and loving messages. It’s also Papaji’s birthday, which is almost poetic in its beauty. Even today, when I get stuck, I ask myself, “What would Papaji say/do?” 🙌🏼 I’ve tried to imbibe his selflessness and goodness in the way things are done at BrightCHAMPS. Subordinates or seniors, Papaji was there for everyone. Much like Dadaji, Papaji has legions of fans we don’t know.Ĭomplete strangers who recount stories of Papaji paying for weddings, or sitting with them in hospitals for hours when a loved one was sick. No stranger was a stranger enough to be denied help, support, or guidance – all they needed to do was ask. Papaji had this unique way of looking at the world like it was his personal extended family. The second man who had a profoundly impacted me was Papaji, my father-in-law, Late Shri LN Prasad. ❤️įrom him, I learned humility and selflessness. It’s because Dadaji showed me, through action not words, what love for learning truly meant. 🥹Īll my life, I’ve known that my calling is education. To date, every time I go to Jamshedpur, I am stopped by strangers with overwhelming stories of how much Dadaji did for his students, and how he never gave up them. My family was not wealthy, and yet, for over a decade, thousands of students from all castes, communities, and walks of life walked through the doors of our home and my grandfather taught them all, without ever taking a rupee.
All because it was unacceptable for a nobody Indian man to dare to earn a Master’s Degree in English Literature. 🙌🏼 He was a freedom fighter for the country and for himself.Īs a freedom fighter for the country, he spent 13 months in jail. 🇮🇳Īs a fighter for himself, he had acid poured in his ear by British officers and lost partial hearing. The second big lesson Dadaji taught me was to lead by example. This thought went on to become the founding philosophy of BrightCHAMPS - learn fearlessly, learn everything. It led me into a world of poetry & writing & science & technology & math, all folding into each other, all without the shackles of a curriculum that said इतना सीखना काफी है इस एग्जाम के लिए! My early educational journey was shaped by my Dadaji’s encouragement to follow my curiosity. It is from him that I learned that learning has no limits. The first was my ❤️ Dadaji, Late Shri Harihar Prasad. I’ve had the privilege to call two great men my gurus & forever champions. 🙏🏼 I want to share a deeply personal story today.
